Friday night was interesting. The prestigious TRUE AWARD in Copenhagen.

As within the BACON family - something like this:

Best film - Royal National Theatre by Martin Werner.

Best Scinematography - Kasper Tuxen - BLK DNM - Film 1.

The Public Award - TRYG "Train" by Martin Werner.

Last but not least - Production Company of the year - BACON.

5th year in a row, if you dont mind me adding... :)

A NICE WEEKEND

It was a nice weekend indeed here in Copenhagen, Denmark...

Friday night was the annual CREATIVE CIRLE AWARD. and 2011 didnt let us down.

Martin Werner got a GOLD award in Direction for THE ROYAL NATIONAL THEATRE...

... a SILVER award to Martin De Thurah in the same category for his EXPO film WATER CITY

... and just to finalize the evening, THE ROYAL NATIONAL THEATRE was awarded SILVER in the category BEST COMMERCIALS, SINGLE. Good evening indeed!!

A NICE START

Its been a nice jump into the 2011 for the BACON'ers, we think - 

ADAM HASHEMI did his latest Coca-Cola spot with Furlined & W+K Portland. And it went on air at half-time at SUPERBOWL this weekend.

MARTIN WERNER's spot for DNBNOR was named FILM OF THE YEAR at the norwegian advertising show GULLFISKEN (the gold fish!), agency TRY, Oslo.

LASSE MARTINUSSEN did some very inspiring & challenging stuff in BACON's first 3D stereo shoot. The film is for BRUUNS BAZAAR, and was shown for 600 people at Copenhagen Fashion Week 2011. (ok, we know - the film is slightly more impressive shown in 3D, but we thought you at least should have the option to see it in 2D anyways:)

Oh - January 2011 was also the month, where we proudly could slam up the doors to our Norwegian office, BACON OSL. Managing director is Magne Lyngner, former exec. producer at Fantefilm, Oslo. You can reach him at magne@baconosl.com

Last Friday, BACON scooped most of the film Gold’s at the “Creative Circle Awards” in Copenhagen...

MARTIN WERNER took gold (again) and silver in the category "Direction". Gold for his SAS spot featuring singer Tina Dickow - and Silver for his SAS spot featuring Danish Le Mans champion Tom Kristensen - agency WIBROE, DUCKERT & PARTNERS, copenhagen.

In the category "Commercials - Single", KASPER WEDENDAHL's spot for SCOR.DK took gold as well - agency ROBERT BOISEN & LIKE-MINDED, Copenhagen.

For some confusing reason we can’t show the spot here – its a rather strange tale of copyrights and internet seeding... but if you’re really discreet, a private showing can be arranged in a dark basement somewhere in your neighborhood - but please be aware, that if you talk or tell, we will have to kill you.

As for the SHANGHAI WORLD EXPO, MARTIN DE THURAH made his tribute to the Danish pavilion, shooting a series of intriguing and beautiful films. The films are personal yet manages to reflect a side of Denmark that is quite far from the stereotype postcard spots normally affiliated with promotion of a country.

LASSE MARTINUSSEN is back to school with a film for the DANISH TEACHERS UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE FUND - all together with agency MENCH, Copenhagen... and is currently focusing on the next TUBORG CLASSIC campaign - together with agency WDP, Copenhagen.

KASPER WEDENDAHL goes horror style with the new campaign for mobile network provider CBB, when not shooting films for SMART CAR, TUBORG & SPEC SAVERS...

MARTIN WERNER is currently sitting on a low-loader somewhere in Los Angeles shooting VOLVO cars as fast as he can - and will right after be on his way to Thailand, as its time for a new COKE ZERO spot - Horray!

and... totally forgot to mention, that BACON (again) was awarded production company of the year at the 2009 TRUE AWARDS - certainly cant be for our lousy website news section update speed, but lets challenge that in the future, shall we?!

Finally, we are ready to launch our digital vision!

In Jonas Drehn, former VFX-supervisor at the Copenhagen based post-house Duckling, we have found our perfect partner & visual creative director for their future CGI projects & web-based work! With the world pointing further towards animation, campaign-led sites & microsites, BACON has reformed our platform to meet these specific needs.

Initially, the BACON idea has been to create a production company with the emphasis on high-end creative work. Far too often, experiences shows a gab between the digital department & film department, as they are placed in different units in different companies - with a collaboration startpoint way too late in the campaign timetable to focus on doing something extraordinary. With Jonas Drehn on board, BACON has pimped the shop digitally - the well-liked jobs are the ones where film production & storytelling meets animation & web design for the same campaign in question! Horray!!

“The prize for the best short fiction goes to a director that with a steady hand challenges the narrative possibilities of film. In a visually convincing examination of cracks of the mind he is able to create an atmosphere, where the audience in a claustrophobic way is drawn into a young mans inner and sees a world in dissolution with his eyes. ESBEN TØNNESEN´s short "LITTLE MAN" has had a terrific year in 2007 - been screened at the festivals in Berlin, Cannes, Clermont Ferrant, Toronto and many more. In July "Little Man" won the first prize for best short film at the world largest children film festival, Giffoni in Italy.

His recent short "SHADOW OF DOUBT" has been selected for PALM SPRING film festival -  the biggest short film festival in USA. Furthermore, "Shadow of a Doubt" has been selected for Venice International Film Festival as the only Danish film this year.
